Earthquake in Nepal

I learnt about the earthquake that happened in Nepal. I thought about the little kids just like me but living in the cold weather without proper food, shelter or clothing in Nepal after the earthquake. I was very sad. I’d like to help them but I don’t know how so I wrote this poem.

EARTHQUAKE IN NEPAL

Earth trembled and shook

All the houses and buildings fell

Rocks rolled from the mountains

The people screamed in fear and terror

How did this happen? Why did this happen?

Questions went with no answers

Under the sky with no home

All the people, rich and poor, young and old  –  for

Kindness and help, they called to the world

Everyone & anyone, PLEASE LEND A HAND.

Term 2 Holidays!

YAY! It’s the school holidays. My dad comes home for the holidays. He works in Cambodia so he’s not here on school days. My 15 year old sister went to Central Australia for a week. She didn’t go on a plane she went on a 30 hour trip on a bus. She saw the Uluru which is awesome. I could only play with my 12 year old brother.

When my sister came back from Central Australia we went to a restaurant called ‘My Cambodia’. The food was so tasty. We ate authentic food like steamed rice with BBQ pork,  sour soup, mixed vegetables with fried tofu. It is one of my favourite restaurants.

On the 2nd week of the holidays I helped my mum make brownies. I found out that it’s really easy making brownies.

Sadly, the holidays are gonna end in just a few days.

July 2015

It’s already July. Lot of things have finished in half a year. I’ve had Cross Country (a running challenge/fitness testing) which I came 12th in, House Athletics Day, Harmony Day, Chinese New Year Parade, the Beep Test (fitness testing in the the specialist sports for our semester reports) and lots more. By this half of the year being so quick and busy I think the other half of the year is gonna be a bit quicker and busier.

Student Challenge #5 – Pictures and Videos

You need to make sure that you don’t use copyright pictures or videos on the Internet.

One very good website that children/students can use is http://commons.wikimedia.org. You can use these pictures according to the license that it shows. This is a good website because:

    1. It has rules that you need to read and it tells you who made and shared the work.
    2. There is a code to get the picture that you want to put onto your post which will also add the “Attribution”.
    3. Also it easy to see the Creative Commons license

Here is some information about three great landmarks in Melbourne.

Luna Park

Luna st kilda

Luna Park is a fun place to go to. It opened in 1912. There are lots of rides you could go on and have lots of fun. They sell food like fairy floss, hot chips and ice cream. The main part of it is the entry, a clown opening his mouth to let everyone inside.

Eureka Sky Deck

Eureka Skydeck balcony close-up from ground

The Eureka Sky deck is very tall. It is made out of glass. It is about 300 metres of the ground. You can see all the scenes around you and under you. It is currently the 98th tallest building in the world. The red on it means the blood shed during the Eureka Stockade and the gold means the gold they were fighting about. The Eureka Sky deck is a beautiful building.

The Melbourne Aquarium

Melbourne_Aquarium

The Melbourne Aquarium is a very calm place to be. You can see sea life and learn about the history of maritime at it. It has seal shows and penguins from the Arctic. It is a great place to visit when you have spare time.

These three landmarks are the gems of Melbourne. But be sure to be there early as they become busy in a short time!

Camp Rumbug Foster North

This week we went on camp and everybody was very excited. This is our first time so we looked forward to it.

We said goodbye to our parents and set off. We travelled by bus passing beautiful places, houses and farms. On the way we watched Rio 2 on the bus. It was a very good movie. we stopped an hour later to have our snack at Coal Creek. After we had our snack we continued our travel.

Finally we reached Camp Rumbug. Everybody was so excited and ready to get on with the activities. Our leader for the 3 days was Jack.We were separated into groups to go into our cabin and activity groups. I had all of my friends in my cabin and most of my friends in my activity group.

Our group first did The Adventure bridge. It was made out of two ropes and a wire. We had to hold onto the two ropes on the sides and balance on the wire until we reach the end. Then we needed to do a very muddy obstacle course. It was fun to walk in the mud. We did other activities like The Giant Swing, Canoeing, Drawbridge and JailBreak. My favourite activity was  the giant swing.

We had the Lodgers Got Talent on the second night. We all dressed up in our lovely clothes and went for dinner. After dinner, everyone did something to show their talent like singing, acting, jokes, magic tricks etc. I also sang a song. It was “Count on Me” and I won.

The third day, we packed up for our return. We were a bit sad but we were tired and wanted to see our family too. That was the end of our camp time after three days but everyone had lots of fun.

My Best Friend!

My best friend is Stephanie. She is 9. We have been in the same class for the past 3 years.

We both have the same hobbies. Our hobbies are making origami things, doing magic tricks and making bracelets out of Loom Bands. We both help each other.Everyone should have a  good friend.

My Holiday

On the first Saturday, Sunday and Monday it was really boring but it was a bit fun because my sister and I did crocheting but my crocheted square kept on coming into a circle and my sister made a warm, thick beanie. On Tuesday we went to the movies to because my Mum didn’t have work. We watched Rio 2. It was a  good movie. It was more ADVENTUROUS!
